| Abstract: | Psychoanalysis is often understood as a medical field with set of practitioners using a therapeutic method to access and transform unconscious psychological propensities and structures in patients. Because it is still true that many people (if not most) think of psychoanalysis as equivalent to Freud, the condemnation of Freud often results in a dismissal of psychoanalysis, especially psychoanalysis' input on sexuality. At Colorado College, we introduce students to Freud, object relations (especially Winnicott and Bollas), Lacan and French postmodern thinkers, self psychology, and intersubjective theory.
