This article presents a response to questions and discussion points raised by psychoanalysts Peter Fonagy and Mary Target in the article "Playing with the Reality of Analytic Love." The author was both surprised and delighted to receive Fongay and Target's reactions to his paper "Falling in Love with Love," and to have an opportunity to engage with their thought-provoking ideas on the nature of sexuality in general and transference (or analytic love) in particular. The author begins by thanking them for opening a space in which both genuine admiration and theoretical and clinical difference can be engaged and explored on both sides. |
