| Abstract: | The article focuses on characteristic portrayal of Neanderthals familiar from twentieth-century media presentations and range of possibilities that are imagined and actualized in contemporary reconstructions of Neanderthals. Topics discussed include unknowability in archaeology tend to focus on the relationship between tangible archaeological evidence, publication of Darwin's "On the Origin of Species" and the remains were quickly drawn into debates around race and human evolution and philosopher Henri Bergson published an essay on the topic of "the possible and the real" in his book "La Pensée et le Mouvant." |
