| Abstract: | This article focuses on the validity of the Slosson Intelligence Test (SIT). The SIT was developed for screening purposes and is intended to be more reliable and valid than group intelligence tests, while requiring significantly less administration time than the more standard individual intelligence tests such as the Stanford-Binet and Wechsker scales. A group of 76 children between the ages of 6 and 13 was administered the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children and SIT by separate examiners without knowledge of previous test results. SIT examiners included special education supervising teachers, a psychiatric social worker, and staff psychologists. A subgroup of 53 students from slow-learning to mildly retarded special classes was also administered the Wide Range Achievement Test. |
