| Abstract (English): | Addiction to social networks is a phenomenon of growing interest. Its occurrence has negative impacts on adolescents, suggesting the need to have suitable evaluation instruments. The aim was to validate the Social Network Addiction Scale-SNAS- (or ARS, in Spanish), through expert review and analysis of its psychometric properties with an incidental sample of 421 adolescents (50.8% women) from Pasto, Colombia (11-19 years old; M = 15.63, SD = 1.34). Adequate linguistic adaptation and optimum content validity and internal consistency were achieved; likewise, confirmatory and invariance factor analysis showed structural validity for three components: obsession with social networks, lack of personal control, and excessive use of social networks. Adequate comparative validity was recognized against the Internet Addiction Test-IAT. The SNAS is the first instrument validated in Colombia for the benefit of clinical processes and prevention and intervention programs for this behavior. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | La adicción a redes sociales es un fenómeno de creciente interés; su ocurrencia tiene impactos negativos sobre los adolescentes, sugiriendo la necesidad de contar con instrumentos idóneos de evaluación. El objetivo fue validar el cuestionario de Adicción a Redes Sociales-ARS a través de la revisión de expertos y el análisis de sus propiedades psicométricas con una muestra incidental de 421 adolescentes (50.8% mujeres) de Pasto, Colombia (11-19 años; M = 15.63; SD = 1.34). Se logró una adecuada adaptación lingüística y óptima validez de contenido y consistencia interna; el análisis factorial confirmatorio y de invarianza evidenciaron validez estructural para tres componentes: obsesión por las redes sociales, falta de control personal y uso excesivo de las redes sociales. Se reconoció adecuada validez comparada frente al Internet Addiction Test-IAT. El cuestionario ARS es el primer instrumento validado en Colombia en beneficio de los procesos clínicos y los programas de prevención e intervención de esta conducta. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Portuguese): | A dependência às redes sociais é um fenômeno de interesse crescente; sua ocorrência tem impactos negativos para os adolescentes, sugerindo a necessidade de instrumentos de avaliação adequados. O objetivo foi validar o questionário Social Network Addiction-ARS por meio de revisão de especialistas e análise de suas propriedades psicométricas com uma amostra incidental de 421 adolescentes (50.8% mulheres) de Pasto, Colômbia (11-19 anos; M = 15.63, SD = 1.34). Foi atingida uma adequada adaptação linguística e ótima validade de conteúdo e consistência interna; A análise fatorial confirmatória e de invariância mostrou validade estrutural para três componentes: obsessão por redes sociais, falta de controle pessoal e uso excessivo de redes sociais. A validade comparativa adequada foi reconhecida em relação ao Internet Addiction Test-IAT.
