| Abstract (English): |
The article titled "Plural partner violence. Coexistence of asymmetry and bidirectionality" addresses the problem of partner violence, both in sociocultural and gender aspects, as well as in symmetrical dynamics. It emphasizes that partner violence is a serious social and public health problem that affects many people worldwide, including Argentina. It is mentioned that the visibility of gender violence has favored professional training and the generation of appropriate devices, but it is also pointed out that the underreporting of bidirectionality has consequences, such as the lack of protection for men who suffer violence in heterosexual couples and the exclusion of female aggressors from recovery programs. Additionally, the difficulty of investigating and addressing symmetrical violence is mentioned. The article proposes a descriptive methodology to contextualize family violence at a global and Argentine level, and analyzes different approaches and explanatory models of partner violence. The relevance of the problem at a global level is also highlighted, and the strategies suggested by the World Health Organization to reduce its impact are mentioned. The article presents information on gender violence in Argentina and in same-sex couples. Studies showing high rates of domestic violence in lesbian and bisexual women are mentioned. Statistics of cases attended by the Office of Domestic Violence and the 144 Helpline are also highlighted, where the majority of victims are women. The importance of including information about the gender of aggressors and victims in judicial and police records is mentioned. Additionally, theoretical models describing the cycle of gender violence are presented, and different approaches in therapeutic intervention for female victims and male aggressors are mentioned. The text provides information on different approaches and theoretical models to address partner violence. The advantages of support groups for victims are mentioned, as well as group approaches for aggressors. An investigation that questions some myths about men who exercise violence is highlighted. Criticisms of these models are also mentioned, and two theoretical models are presented: the systemic model proposed by Perrone and Nannini, and the conflict model developed by Murray Straus. These models address partner violence from a perspective of interaction and communication between the people involved. The text presents information on the partner violence (PV) model and its treatment. The importance of the relay as a figure that temporarily regulates violence is mentioned. It is explained that violence is transmitted intergenerationally and is associated with love. Culture and social organization are discussed as factors that influence violence. Different treatment strategies are mentioned, such as the introduction of the relay and the modification of belief systems. The importance of including men as potential victims and developing better containment strategies for high-risk aggressors is also highlighted. The text analyzes different explanatory models of violence in the couple (PV) and emphasizes the importance of considering both sociocultural and gender issues, as well as the bidirectionality of dynamics. Studies showing that violence in dating tends to be bidirectional, with differences in the types of violence according to reports from men and women, are mentioned. The Straus model is criticized for not taking into account the context and motivations of the people involved in violence. Criticisms of approaches that emphasize gender issues are also mentioned, and it is suggested to consider the singularity of each situation. In conclusion, the importance of critically evaluating different approaches to address PV and promoting comprehensive public policies and more effective services is emphasized. | Abstract (Spanish): |
