| Abstract: | This project, a re-imagining of entanglements with time, explores possibilities for de-centering capitalist notions of ClockTime and moving toward an abolitionist inspired orientation/entanglement with time in education. Working with teacher education, and a teacher residency more specifically, moving otherwise is difficult due to how deeply entangled education is with various modes of domination (e.g., Anti-Blackness, capitalist exploitation, etc.). Capitalist ClockTime, for example, disciplines our ways of being and knowing in schools. To challenge the centrality of Capitalist ClockTime, we propose Abolitionist Time. The move is a reorientation from "time as money" to think about "time as freedom." To make this move, first, we propose an epistemological re-orientation that explores Abolition Time as water, and second, we offer the abolitionist clock, a practical tool for applying Abolition Time in teacher education programming.
