| Abstract (English): | The high social value placed on motherhood often means that childless women experience family and social stigmatization. Faced with this situation, some childless women join Internet discussion groups to share their experiences. Based on the testimonies of Quebec women who were involuntarily infertile, this article examines how online discussion groups enabled childless women to come together, support each other, denounce the forms of devaluation they suffered in the social and intimate spheres, and claim their specific role and place in their family and society. This article also demonstrates more broadly how participation in online discussion groups, as a place for exchange, sharing, and support, can transform how personal and family identity is constructed. | Abstract (French): | RÉSUMÉ: Dans le parcours des femmes, la maternité reste socialement valorisée, et dans ce contexte certaines femmes sans enfant sont confrontées à une souffrance personnelle et à une stigmatisation familiale et sociale. Face à cette situation, certaines d'entre elles prennent l'initiative de joindre des groupes de discussion sur Internet pour partager leurs expériences. À partir de témoignages de Québécoises involontairement infécondes, cet article examine comment des groupes de discussion en ligne leur ont permis de se regrouper, de se soutenir, mais aussi de dénoncer les formes de dévaluation subies dans la sphère sociale et intime, et de revendiquer leur rôle et leur place spécifiques dans leur famille et leur société. Cet article vise aussi à montrer plus largement comment la participation à des groupes de discussion en ligne peut contribuer, en tant que lieu d'échanges, de partagels et de soutien, à la transformation des modalités de construction d'une identité personnelle et familiale.
