Abstract: The author discusses a study by N. Ezard and colleagues which showed that high-dose prescription amphetamines can have small but significant benefit for individuals with severe methamphetamine use. Topics include indication of a dose-response relationship, consistent with an agonist-type mechanism, a major hurdle in stimulant (methamphetamine or cocaine) use disorder (StUD) clinical trials, and significance of adopting a medication-based treatment for StUD.
