| Abstract: | The author advocates for establishing psychoobstetrics or obstetrical psychiatry, as a distinct field that bridges psychiatry and obstetrics. She discusses the definition of obstetric complications (OCs), the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) theory which is based on Barker's fetal programming hypothesis, and some OCs that have been associated with cognitive deviations, psychomotor delays, and emotional problems in the offspring which may be present very early in life. |
