| Abstract: | The article focuses on the persistence of bias in human information processing, particularly in forensic psychological assessments, and evaluates the effectiveness of the Linear Sequencing Unmasking-Expanded (LSU-E) approach as a debiasing strategy. A study involving 308 participants found that irrelevant case information biased criminal risk assessments, and presenting this information in a different sequence did not mitigate the bias. The authors address criticisms regarding their methodology and suggest future research directions to enhance the ecological validity of the LSU-E approach and explore its application in various forensic contexts.
