Abstract: The article examines Max Black's influential commentary on general semantics and its ongoing relevance in modern thought. Topics include Black's critical analysis of general semantics; Korzybski's concept of silence at the objective level; and modern perspectives and neuroscience, suggesting that 21st-century research may help explain the cortical delays described by Korzybski and support revisions to general semantics theory.
