| Abstract (English): | Father involvement is strongly associated with children's developmental outcomes. We examined the mediating role of the father–child relationship and mother marital satisfaction on the relationship between father involvement and child social adjustment. The participants came from eight kindergartens in six provinces in China and included 573 families. We collected data cross‐sectionally using validated measures to assess the direct and indirect effects of father involvement, the father–child relationship, and mother marital satisfaction on child social adjustment using path models, with fathers reporting father involvement and the father–child relationship, and mothers reporting mother marital satisfaction and child social adjustment. The results of the study showed a significant positive correlation between father involvement and child social adjustment. Additionally, father–child conflict and mother marital satisfaction served as independent mediators, the father–child relationship (including father–child closeness and father–child conflict) and mother marital satisfaction created a chain mediating effect between father involvement and child social adjustment. This finding emphasizes the effect of father involvement on children's social adjustment, revealing the necessity of nurturing healthy parent–child and marital relationships for the development of children's social adjustment. | Abstract (Spanish): | Resumen: La participación del papá está fuertemente asociada con los resultados de desarrollo de los niños. Examinamos el papel mediador de la relación papá‐niño y la satisfacción marital de la madre en las relaciones entre la participación del papá y la adaptación social del niño. Los participantes provinieron de 8 jardines de infancia en seis provincias de China, lo cual incluyó a 573 familias. Recogimos los datos de manera transversal usando medidas validadas para evaluar los efectos directos e indirectos de la participación del papá, la relación papá‐niño, así como la satisfacción marital de la madre sobre la adaptación social del niño usando modelos de trayectoria, con los papás reportando la participación del papá y la relación papá‐niño, y con las madres reportando la satisfacción marital de las madres y la adaptación social del niño. Los resultados del estudio mostraron una significativa positiva correlación entre la participación del papá y la adaptación social del niño. Adicionalmente, el conflicto papá‐niño y la satisfacción marital de la madre sirvieron como mediadores independientes, la relación papá‐niño (incluyendo la cercanía papá‐niño y el conflicto papá‐niño) y la satisfacción marital de la madre crearon un efecto mediador en cadena entre la participación del papá y la adaptación social del niño. | Abstract (French): | abstraite: La participation du père est fortement liée aux résultats de développement des enfants. Nous avons examiné le rôle de médiation de la relation père‐enfant et de la satisfaction conjugale de la mère sur la relation entre la participation du père et l'ajustement social de l'enfant. Les participants sont venus de huit crèches dans six provinces chinoises et ont compris 573 familles. Nous avons recueilli des données transversales en utilisant des mesures validées pour évaluer les effets directs et indirects de la participation du père, de la relation père‐enfant et de la satisfaction conjugale de la mère sur l'ajustement social de l'enfant à l'aide de modèles d'équations structurelles, avec les pères faisant état de la participation du père et de la relation père‐enfant, et les mères faisant état de la satisfaction conjugale de la mère et de l'ajustement social de l'enfant. Les résultats de l'étude ont montré une corrélation positive importante entre la participation du père et l'ajustement social de l'enfant. En outre, le conflit père‐enfant et la satisfaction conjugale de la mère ont servi de médiateurs indépendants. | Abstract (German): | abstrait: Die Beteiligung des Vaters steht in engem Zusammenhang mit der kindlichen Entwicklung. Wir untersuchten die mediierende Rolle der Vater‐Kind‐Beziehung und der Ehezufriedenheit der Mutter auf den Zusammenhang zwischen der Beteiligung des Vaters und der sozialen Anpassung des Kindes. Die Teilnehmenden kamen aus 8 Kindergärten in sechs Provinzen Chinas und umfassten 573 Familien. Die Daten wurden im Querschnitt mit validierten Messinstrumenten erhoben, um die direkten und indirekten Auswirkungen der Beteiligung des Vaters, der Vater‐Kind‐Beziehung und der Ehezufriedenheit der Mutter auf die soziale Anpassung des Kindes mit Hilfe von Pfadmodellen zu untersuchen, wobei die Väter die ihre Beteiligung und die Vater‐Kind‐Beziehung angaben und die Mütter ihre Ehezufriedenheit und die soziale Anpassung des Kindes berichteten.
