| Abstract: |
Focuses on the effects of climatic and anthropogenic factors on emerging marine diseases. Mortality due to disease outbreaks affecting major taxa in the oceans; Increase in the frequency and number of new diseases among corals and marine mammals; The increase in coral bleaching in 1997-98 coinciding with high El Nino temperatures; Human and climate activities accelerating global transport of species, bringing together pathogens and previously unexposed host populations. |
