Abstract: The article analyzes the application of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) to schizophrenia and presents information on new studies on the concerned issue. The studies on the use of MRI on the corpus callosum in schizophrenia have been found to be highly inconsistent. The ability of MRS in making functional neurochemical measures, as stated, also needs to be fully exploited. It is stated that various new studies are being conducted to increase the potential of MR system which is visible in its increasing capacity for multiplanar imaging and the range of MR sequences available to reveal differing aspects of tissue contrast behavior and tissue pathology.
