| Abstract: | The article cites a study which found a link between a mutation in a protein and a development of a type of tumour. A team led by Jared Rutter determined the function of SDH5, a structural protein of the enzyme succinate dehydrogenase (SDH). It is noted that the neuroendocrine tumour called paraganglioma is attributed to human mutations that inhibit SDH activity, thus signifying a metabolic cause of the tumour. |
