| Abstract: |
The article explores the innovations in software, cell incubation and microscope systems that are used for live-cell imaging. It highlights the discovery of Sally Temple, a developmental neuroscientist at the Neural Stem Cell Institute in Rensselaer, New York, of a method using a microscope to successfully study how functional cells and tissues develop, and the important factors that scientists must consider during cell imaging experiments. Also featured are several commercial products for imaging cells, including the MetaMorph imaging analysis software from Molecular Devices, imaging-processing software Matlab from MathWorks and Volocity from PerkinElmer. |
