Abstract:	The article discusses the teaching of writing to students. The authors question what constitutes good student writing and suggest that the views of contemporary experts on what makes writing good should be challenged. They report on a research study in which varying perspectives on good writing were analyzed and compared. The writing style popularized by William Strunk and E. B. White, authors of the book "The Elements of Style," in the 20th century is discussed for its emphasis on limited adjectives and adverbs and plain language. This is compared with the 6 + 1 Traits writing model, which emphasizes the development of a common vision of good writing among teachers and students.
