Abstract (English): An interview with Alfonso Iracheta, academic and researcher from the Mexiquenseis School presented. The article talks about the development of functional cities that address social and environmental problems. It emphasizes that technological solutions are useful, but they are not the only solution. The importance of solving social problems and ensuring equitable access to basic services is highlighted. Additionally, it is mentioned that urban growth poses challenges for planning, and strategies to improve the quality of life in cities are discussed. The need to redesign housing and education due to the pandemic is also addressed. In summary, the article proposes the need to take advantage of the lessons from the pandemic to improve urban life. Se enfatiza la importancia de resolver problemas sociales y garantizar el acceso equitativo a servicios básicos. Además, se menciona que el crecimiento urbano plantea desafíos para la planificación y se discuten estrategias para mejorar la calidad de vida en las ciudades. También se habla sobre la necesidad de rediseñar la vivienda y la educación debido a la pandemia.
