In this paper, we try to show the usefulness of the Sentence Books of the Povincial Court for understanding violence against women in the early Franco. We have analyzed the books of the Provincial Court of Ourense for the period 1940-1950, selecting those sentences that, directly or indirectly, show cases of violence against women both in the public and private spheres. We analyze the crimes judged and the judgments pronounced, as well as the information that they offer us on this object of study, from them we deepen in the diverse typologies, that we have grouped in five forms. Our objective is to draw attention to the possibilities offered by this source and also to its limitations: it is one of the few that exists, but the audience only reaches the most serious cases of violence against women so the vast majority remain in the anonymity. En el presente trabajo, pretendemos poner de manifiesto la utilidad de los Libros de Sentencias de la Audiencia Provincial para el conocimiento de la violencia sobre las mujeres en el primer franquismo. Hemos analizado los libros de la Audiencia provincial de Ourense correspondientes al período 1940-1950, seleccionando aquellas sentencias que, de manera directa o indirecta, permiten conocer casos de violencia contra las mujeres tanto en el ámbito público como en el privado. Analizamos los delitos juzgados y las sentencias pronunciadas, así como la información que nos ofrecen sobre este objeto de estudio, a partir de ellas profundizamos en las diversas tipologías. Nuestro objetivo es llamar la atención sobre las posibilidades que ofrece esta fuente y también sobre sus limitaciones: es una de las pocas que existe, pero a la Audiencia únicamente llegan los casos más graves de violencia contra las mujeres por lo que la inmensa mayoría quedan en el anonimato.
