Abstract (English):	Vilma Espín Guillois was part of a group of women who were absolutely essential for the Cuban Revolution. This article tries to underscore her career and thought before the triumph, with special attention to her own testimonies about this time. A pioneer in industrial chemical engineering in the cuban island, the beginning of Fulgencio Batista's dictatorship and the suspension of constitutional rights were the spur that pushed her to political and student protest. Tireless and tenacious, she was the lieutenant of Frank País and the provincial coordinator of the July 26 Movement for her request a short time before her death. When her situation was unsustainable in the city of Santiago de Cuba, she marched to the mountains, applying her skills and acquiring new ones at the service of the Eastern Second Front "Frank País García" of the Cuban Revolution. Abstract (Spanish):	Vilma Espín Guillois formó parte de un grupo de mujeres del todo imprescindibles para la Revolución Cubana. Este artículo pretende poner en valor su trayectoria y pensamiento antes del triunfo, atendiendo con especial énfasis a sus propios testimonios sobre esta época. Pionera en la ingeniería química industrial en toda la Isla, el inicio de la dictadura de Fulgencio Batista y la suspensión de los derechos constitucionales fueron el acicate que la empujó a la protesta política y estudiantil. Incansable y tenaz, fue la lugarteniente de Frank País y la coordinadora provincial del Movimiento 26 de Julio a petición del mismo poco antes de su muerte. Cuando su situación fue insostenible en la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba, se alzó y marchó a la sierra, aplicando sus habilidades y adquiriendo otras nuevas al servicio del Segundo Frente Oriental "Frank País García" de la Revolución Cubana.
