| Abstract (English): | The audiovisual production of peoples and nationalities has gone through a long social and historical development to be located within the visual space of Ecuador and be legitimized as part of the national identity. This has meant a constant struggle of senses and powers because the image of the indigenous has traditionally been constituted from marginalization and exclusion. Little by little, the representatives of these communities have retaken important spaces for the social, political and cultural life of the country. From the seventh art, these communities clamor to also recover the right to look, be looked at and be producers of their own images, because cinema is considered an important political weapon that has emancipatory potential.
