Abstract (English): The groundbreaking United Nations Conference on the Human Environment (Stockholm 1972) warned of the damage that human beings can cause to the environment, establishing common criteria and principles to inspire and guide states to preserve and improve it. As a result of the numerous climate disasters that occurred in the previous decade and public opinion's growing concern regarding environmental issues, political, diplomatic and academic actions have grown significantly. The article deals with the fact that climate change and global warming pose a threat to international peace and security. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Ya la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Medio Humano de Estocolmo, 1972, advertía del daño que el ser humano puede causar al medio ambiente y establecía criterios y principios comunes para inspirar y guiar a los Estados para preservarlo y mejorarlo. Conferencia que está considerada como el inicio de una destacada actividad política, diplomática y académica medioambiental internacional, fruto de la preocupación y concienciación de un amplio sector de la opinión pública por el medio ambiente, a raíz de los numerosos desastres climáticos habidos en la década anterior a la misma. Además, el cambio climático supone una amenaza para la paz y seguridad internacionales. Puede hablarse así de la naturaleza securitaria del calentamiento global. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
