Abstract (English): In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure or shutdown of in-person activities in schools, universities, and research institutes worldwide. This process is analyzed and reflected upon using the complex thinking approach and the theoretical-conceptual and methodological contributions of Carlos Scolari. The results suggest the compatibility of complexity fundamentals and the adaptation of digital interfaces based on a socio-historical context and moment. This approach allows for an understanding of what occurred during the pandemic and prepares for future challenges in higher education and possible lockdowns due to the uncertainties facing contemporary society. Abstract (Spanish): Em 2020, a pandemia de COVID-19 levou ao fechamento ou à suspensão das atividades presenciais em escolas, universidades e institutos de pesquisa em todo o mundo. Este processo é analisado e refletido a partir da abordagem do pensamento complexo e das contribuições teórico-conceituais e metodológicas de Carlos Scolari. Os resultados sugerem a compatibilidade dos fundamentos da complexidade e a adaptação de interfaces digitais com base em um contexto e momento socio-histórico. Esta abordagem permite uma compreensão do que ocorreu durante a pandemia e prepara para futuros desafios na educação superior e possíveis confinamentos devido às incertezas que afligem a sociedade contemporânea. Abstract (Portuguese): En 2020 se presentó la pandemia de COVID-19, lo que obligó al cierre o apagón presencial en las escuelas, universidades e institutos de investigación alrededor del mundo. Se analiza y reflexiona este proceso a partir del enfoque de pensamiento complejo y de los aportes teórico-conceptuales y metodológicos de Carlos Scolari. Los resultados sugieren la compatibilidad de los fundamentos de la complejidad y la adaptación de interfaces digitales a partir de un contexto y momento sociohistórico, lo cual permite una aproximación a la comprensión de lo ocurrido en la pandemia con miras a una preparación de futuros desafíos en la educación superior y posibles confinamientos, debido a contextos de incertidumbre que aquejan a la sociedad contemporánea.
