| Abstract (English): | This study examines the front-page coverage of four Lima newspapers during the political crises and subsequent social protests of 2020 and 2022-2023 in Peru. A total of 400 front pages were evaluated using analysis sheets focusing on informational treatment and formal aspects. The results reveal a clear bias, more pronounced in the second crisis, with selective use of images and sensational language at the expense of impartiality. There was also evidence of unequal representation of protest victims, prioritizing those from Lima over other regions. This underscores the need for responsible journalism to restore public trust and foster balanced debate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | Este estudio analiza la cobertura en las portadas de cuatro diarios de Lima durante las crisis políticas y sus consecuentes protestas sociales de 2020 y 2022-2023 en Perú. Se evaluaron 400 portadas mediante fichas de análisis sobre tratamiento informativo y aspectos formales. Los resultados revelan un sesgo claro, más marcado en la segunda crisis, con uso selectivo de imágenes y lenguaje llamativo en detrimento de la imparcialidad. También se evidenció una representación desigual de las víctimas de las protestas, priorizando las de Lima sobre las de otras regiones. | Abstract (Portuguese): | Este estudo analisa a cobertura nas capas de quatro jornais de Lima durante as crises políticas e os consequentes protestos sociais de 2020 e 2022-2023 no Peru. Foram avaliadas 400 capas utilizando fichas de análise sobre o tratamento informativo e aspectos formais. Os resultados revelam um claro viés, mais acentuado na segunda crise, com uso seletivo de imagens e linguagem chamativa em detrimento da imparcialidade. Também foi evidenciada uma representação desigual das vítimas dos protestos, priorizando as de Lima em relação às de outras regiões.
