Abstract (English): The article analyzes the relationship between inflation and structural change in Brazil during the post-war period (1945-1964) using a structural vector error correction model. It concludes that inflation played a significant role in structural change, while the influence of structural change on inflation was less pronounced. Through empirical analysis, it is evidenced that inflation may have stimulated investment and industrial growth, although negative long-term effects are also identified. The study suggests that, although inflation contributed to development, it was not an inevitable phenomenon, highlighting the importance of institutional factors and development policies in the Brazilian economy.
