Abstract (English):	The article examines the role of the public social services sector in Brazil, particularly in education and health, in reducing inequality and labor precariousness. Through analysis of data from the Continuous National Household Surveys between 2012 and 2023, it concludes that public employment offers better working conditions, greater inclusion of women and non-white individuals, and a more equitable salary distribution compared to the private sector. Additionally, it highlights that the low representation of these services in total employment suggests an untapped growth potential. The counterfactual simulation indicates that if private sector incomes were aligned with those of the public sector, wage disparity could be significantly reduced. [Extracted from the article]
Abstract (Spanish):	En este artículo se investiga en qué medida podría contribuir el sector de los servicios sociales públicos, principalmente las áreas de educación y salud, a mitigar la desigualdad y la precarización del empleo en el sector de los servicios brasileño. Con base en las Encuestas Nacionales de Hogares Continuas de 2012 a 2023, se exploran estadísticas descriptivas sobre los puestos de trabajo, la estructura salarial y el perfil de los empleados en dicho sector, y, mediante una simulación contrafactual, se analiza cómo afectaría a la disparidad salarial en las áreas educativa y sanitaria si la distribución salarial en el sector público fuera la norma. Los resultados apuntan a la superioridad del empleo público en cuanto a calidad laboral, inclusión de mujeres y personas no blancas, y perfil de distribución salarial. Por último, la baja representación de la educación y salud públicas en el empleo total del sector de los servicios apunta a una oportunidad insuficientemente explotada en el país.
