| Abstract (English): | The UN Collective Security System is the result of an evolution that has gradually incorporated different dimensions among which are nowadays actions of peacebuilding. Anyways, within the framework of this system, measures aimed at achieving and maintaining peace in fragile or unstable States have been implemented, driven essentially by the major powers of international society, which have been criticized for the effects that these measures could have on the structural principles of the international order. This has led to consider the consequences of applying certain concepts of peace, such as liberal peace or democratic peace, in order to define these notions and its practical implications with a view to ensuring greater protection of human rights, the self-determination of peoples, and non-interference in internal affairs; all this having the peace as a reference value for the international community. | Abstract (Spanish): | El sistema de seguridad colectiva de Naciones Unidas es resultado de una evolución que ha ido incorporando distintas dimensiones entre las que actualmente se encuentran las acciones relativas a la consolidación de la paz. En todo caso, en el marco de este sistema, se han puesto en práctica medidas orientadas a lograr y mantener la paz en Estados frágiles o inestables, impulsadas esencialmente por las principales potencias de la sociedad internacional, que han sido criticadas por los efectos que podrían tener en principios estructurales del orden internacional. Esto ha llevado a plantearse las consecuencias que han tenido la aplicación de algunos conceptos de paz como la paz liberal o la paz democrática, con el fin de perfilar estas nociones y sus consecuencias prácticas con miras a una mayor garantía en la protección de los derechos humanos, la autodeterminación de los pueblos, y la no injerencia en los asuntos internos; todo ello tomando la paz como un valor de referencia para la comunidad internacional.
