Abstract (English): This paper consists of a socio-economic study of women in Sevillian society between 1595 and 1599, through the analysis of dowry letters. The analysis of the data contained in these letters allows us to reflect on issues that influenced, to a greater or lesser extent, the lives of Sevillian women in the late 16th century, immersed in an Old Regime society, in an Atlantic mercantile port that functioned according to its own mechanisms. Some of the aspects of this society on which we will focus will be the distribution of wealth in the city, the aspects that influenced the greater or lesser amounts of capital granted at the time of marriage, and to what extent the professions, social status and relationships between individuals at the height of the Carrera de Indias favoured the accumulation of capital and individual enrichment.
