Abstract (English): The aim of this essay is to list, present and interpret episodes of female slave escapes in São Paulo between 1828 and 1831, based on the newspapers O Farol Paulistano and O Observador Constitucional. Considering the particularities of female enslavement, it set itself the problem of reflecting on how the condition of women affected the action of running away. Based on the aforementioned sources, we found 24 enslaved women who ran away in these years. From this initial sample, we highlighted episodes involving issues such as motherhood, affective and family life, as well as the meanings of freedom adopted and put into practice by these women. We conclude that the situation of women and slaves crosses the experience of escape through particularities specific to these captives, such as pregnancy and motherhood or sexual violence.
