Abstract (English): This study critically analyses the narratives of El Comercio and El Telégrafo regarding the Ecuadorian indigenous movement during the uprisings of 1990, 1997, and 2000. Through critical discourse analysis and an intersectional perspective, it examines how the media constructs the "other" using strategies of criminalization, exoticization, and invisibilization, thereby reinforcing symbolic hierarchies. The results show that, although both newspapers reproduce logics of subordination, there are moments when social demands and deontological aspects derived from social evolution emerge, revealing cracks in the hegemonic narrative. It is concluded that newspapers are not neutral actors but rather producers of symbolic power that shape social imaginaries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
