Abstract (English):	The Internet is central character of the information society. Therefore, it is assumed that only those people who have the intellectual and technical tools for understanding and handling the information and communication technologies can engage with this new species of multimedia society. Knowledge about the Internet is a way for analyzing gaps among different social strata. The present research goal focuses on assessing the importance of the socioeconomic level (NSE, for its name in Spanish) regarding knowing a new technology. The results show structural elements prevalence among knowledge differences. People who have more access to new technologies seem to have better skills for using them and understanding their languages. Apparently, their experience has enabled them with greater communicative abilities that allow them to better fit into such a new culture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish):	Internet es protagonista principal de la sociedad de la información, por lo que suponemos que sólo quienes posean las herramientas intelectuales y técnicas para comprender y operar las tecnologías de la comunicación y de la información podrán integrarse a este nuevo tipo de sociedad multimedial. El conocimiento sobre Internet es un modo de analizar las brechas entre los diferentes segmentos sociales. Esta investigación se propuso evaluar la importancia del nivel socioeconómico (NSE) en el conocimiento de una nueva tecnología. Los resultados muestran la incidencia de los factores estructurales en las diferencias de conocimiento. Las personas con mayor acceso a las nuevas tecnologías parecen tener mejores habilidades en el uso y la comprensión de sus lenguajes; la experiencia los ha dotado de mayores capacidades comunicativas que les permiten integrarse mejor a esa nueva cultura.
