| Abstract: |
The article presents a proposal for the direction of the Centro Internacional de Estudios Superiores de Comunicación para América Latina (CIESPAL), an organization based in Quito, Ecuador dedicated to the study and teaching of communication in Latin America. The proposal coincides with the 50th anniversary of the founding of CIESPAL and offers a discussion of the organization's founding principles. The author states that the primary principle of CIESPAL is the democratization of communication, which implies access to and participation by all citizenship in communication through media such as radio, television, and print publications. Other goals mentioned include research, professional training, and production of audiovisual and print materials. |
